Part St. Tropez Club 55 and part St. Bart’s Nikki Beach, the chameleon party space Life HTX  rocked with a wicked disco vibe Saturday afternoon when Lucinda and Javier Loya took over with a Super Bowl bash that was more midnight mischief than daytime frivolity.

“It’s total chaos,” said event planner Debbie Elias as she surveyed the wild party scene three hours into the five-hour bacchanal. Table-top dancing had already begun and drinking straight from magnums of champagne was a right of party passage.

Best Dressed

The night after the Houston Chronicle introduced its 2017 Best Dressed honorees, A Couture Cause unveiled its 2017 stylistas, featured in the fourth annual Trend Guide.

For the cocktail attire evening at Life HTX, more than 250 chic young professionals gathered to salute the fashion stars and raise funds for the Youth Hope Association and the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation. And what a gathering it was with sophisticated guests parting with $75 for a glass of Perrier-Jouet champagne, every penny of which went to the nonprofits as did tickets sales, which entitled guests to a copy of the hardcover Trend Guide.

Holiday Schmooze at LifeHTX

Legacy Community Health changed things up for this year's annual Holiday Schmooze. Traditionally, the winter fundraiser is hosted by a couple, in their home. Though a departure from the norm, the 2016 party hosts did not disappoint. Becca Cason Thrash and John Thrash, Greggory and Pat Burk, Monsour Taghdisi and Henry Richardson, Steve Summers and Glen Gonzalez lured an impressive 200 festive guests to Montrose's LifeHTX, Taghdisi's latest venture.

There was lots of shimmer, sparkle, and shine at the ultra-glam Holiday Schmooze party at Montrose-area event venue LifeHTX, complete with dazzling holiday decorations and lights.

Hosted by Greggory and Pat Burk, Monsour Taghdisi and Henry Richardson, Becca Cason Thrash and John Thrash, and Steve Summers and Glen Gonzalez, the evening raised over $150,000 for non-profit Legacy Community Health’s HIV/AIDS programs and services.

As the first few notes of Etta James’ "At Last" played for John Dascoulias and Clifford Pugh’s first dance, knowing nods, hugs and smiles broke out among the wedding reception guests. It was a moment more than two decades in the making, perfectly encapsulating their love story in song.

The start of many “how we met” stories often involves mutual friends, a party and an immediate spark. Such was the case for Dascoulias & Pugh, who met at party in the mid-'90s and just clicked. At the time, Pugh was a features writer at the Houston Post and the relationship prompted Dascoulias to avoid a certain section of the paper.
