Guests turned out in their most whimsical costumes for the Clayton Dabney for Kids with Cancer Halloween Bash at chic Montrose event venue LIFEhtx.

The non-profit’s inaugural Halloween fundraiser was a huge success, helping raising funds for families facing the devastating loss of a child to terminal cancer by assisting with last wishes, family travel, household bills and more.

During the event, partygoers mingled as they enjoyed bites and drinks from Armando’s Catering and bid on silent auction items including a day of pampering at Fiori Spa and floor seats for a Houston Rockets game. All the while, floor-to-ceiling projections of Halloween scenes set the spooky backdrop.

Iconic fashion designer Donna Karan has always had a deep and abiding interest in global betterment and exploring the connection between body, mind and spirit. Since she stepped away from producing her namesake line in 2015, she has concentrated on her Urban Zen collection, which features a wide array of clothing, jewelry, furniture and accessories made by artisans from around the world.

Now she and noted fashion photographer Russell James have teamed up to headline a Houston fundraiser that promotes and celebrates indigenous cultures through art. The inaugural Nomad Two Worlds Foundation reception on November 3 at LIFEhtx will feature a cocktail hour, silent auction, performances by Native American and Australian Aboriginal musicians, and remarks by Karan and James.

The scoop: More than 100 VIP guests gathered at luxe event venue Life HTX for a night Down Under, hosted by Tourism Australia and Air New Zealand, to celebrate the airline's direct route to seven Aussie gateways from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Guests got an authentic taste of Australia thanks to virtual reality headsets that showcased the country’s coastal and aquatic destinations, plus floor-to-ceiling projections of Australia streaming in the background, Aussie-themed bites by Fare Extraordinaire along with Houston-based Aussie chef Jason Gould who consulted on the menu, Australian wines, and beer from local Aussie brewery, Platypus Brewing. Lucinda and Javier Loya's fourth annual "Houston Texans Tailgate White Out" bash took a turn from tradition Saturday night, moving from the Loya's incredible swankienda to the ultra cool digs of LIFE HTX, the luxury event space created by their BFF and custom builder Monsour Taghdisi.

With the move from Memorial to Montrose, the party vibe ratcheted up several notches thanks in part to event planner Deborah Elias, Elias Events, who took advantage of the venue's state-of-the-art projection, lighting and sound systems to permeate the scene with Houston Texans swagger and party chic.
